Why is there need #Finance after #Law? Why is an in depth understanding of Finance and Business necessary for a Corporate Lawyer?

Why finance after Law? This was and is the most famous questions I have been asked since #2019 till #2021 . I say why not?

Hope this answers the questions of my colleagues classmates and others

The above question had become the most frequently asked question faq . I have been working in corporatefinance , securities , stockmarket , ipo and arbitration matters of Company from #2015 . Between #2015 to #2019 as I began to take care of all Company matters in depth and solely with self reliance, I started experiencing a need for better financial and business administration understanding.

Doing llm was not really a useful option for me. I believed after 5 years of Law course consisting of Ten Semester, do you really have to still enrol for specializing any law again? No not required. After 5 years of law and couple of years of practical experience, I was like give me any law book or legal issues and I will give you it’s interpretation application legalresearch caselaw and arguments .

So in #2019, I enrolled for mastersdegree in globalfinancialmarkets . Do you know, when can a lawyer seriously formulate best solutions to your problems? It happens when they assume and understand your position perfectly.

Example a founder of a company approaches me with his/her legal problems/disputes/issues which are 9 of the 10 times related to business , commerce , securities assets and fianance . In order to resolve his/her issues, I need to start understanding position of founders directors managers . Now you tell me can I assume all these roles in Company even for a second, if I have no understanding of Business and Finance? Will I be able to give you best solution with half knowledge? Every legal issue/disputes/problems has a potential to affect entire company not just founder, so lawyers need to have complete understanding before advising. It is necessary you have this knowledge well in advance, after client comes you may get two days for research and consultation which is not sufficient . Brain is not artificialintelligence to absorb in depth knowledge in two days and immediately apply. Vast subjects Business and finance are not something you learn overnight, it’s a process learnt with support of proper education and good mentors .

Before advising there comes understanding supported with complete knowledge and education

After degree, If today any one approaches me with legal issues revolving around business derivativesmarket equitymarket commoditymarkets currencymarket fema privateequity cryptoassets investmentbanking fintech insurance and bank , I am in better position to advise and resolve their issues.

I work on basis of intution which is supported only by hardcore knowledge and practicalexperience not thin air.
